Mountain View Baptist Church began as Bethel Navajo Baptist Mission in March of 1997. We began meeting in the home of Mary Hobbs in Tsaile, Arizona. The first service saw 11 people from the community attend. The church was started with the assistance of Bro. Raymond Hobbs, a dear Navajo man who would eventually become the pastor of the work.
Shortly after starting in Tsaile, we were informed that there were a couple of families without a pastor in the nearby community of Lukachukai. After preaching for a while in both places, the works were combined. The mission was organized into an independent church on October 26, 2003. God has blessed the work. The church recently finished the process of obtaining a church site lease in Lukachukai from the Tribe and is planning to build a permanent facility. Please pray for Bro. Hobbs as he leads the church to greater days. If you would be interested in helping Mountain View financially in putting up the new building, please get in contact with me.
The church sponsors a large Vacation Bible School every summer that is well received in the community. Many people have been saved through this ministry. The highest single day attendance record is 190 which was set in June of 2012.
